Week 03 - 2D

 Tuesday 2nd August

 Creative Thinking Exercise 01:

GROUP EXERCISE

Combining Ideas
This week we were put into groups to find and agree on two words that could be created into unique 2D design thinking and we agreed on “Spaceship” & “Money”

SPACESHIP & MONEY

SPACESHIP – rocket, space shuttle, lift-off, fuel, big

MONEY – paper, currency, social, payment, goods & services

SPACESHIP MONEY

Here are my possible design questions to think about:
·      Can we have money with a spaceship design printed on it?
·      Can we have a spaceship with a money design printed on it?
·      Can we have a Spaceship currency on board large spaceships to buy and sell
·      Because some spaceships aren’t used any more could you peel off a thin layer of the spaceship skin and turn it into metal bank notes?
·      Could you peel off the outer skin of the spaceship and then punch different sized holes to make special commemorative coins out of it?
·      Could you raise money from certain organisations that want to support space travel other than through NASA
·      Can we as the people of the earth use some of our money to send our toxic & nuclear waste up in a special spaceship to free the earth from harm?
·      Can we make a replica of a Spaceship made out of expired coins that were destined for scrap metal

YouTube Clip: Stanford Design Thinking Process

Commentary:
This was made by a group of Stanford Design students in America. They decided to ask a random student what their problem was and what could be invented to fix this. The random student liked to have a coffee in between classes and his other class was a bike ride away so he wanted a cup holder designed for his bicycle. The design students had the small task of designing a universal coffee cup holder for a bike. I thought this was a strange idea because a lot of coffee drinkers generally don’t ride bikes and drink coffee at the same time but for the purpose of design thinking it was good to see the students get together and work out the design requirements.

STYLE - Futurist

Reflection

This week’s class really got the design juices flowing. This can really kickstart the thinking process for ideas on what to create for our exhibition at the end of semester. I wish I had the technical experience and know how to pull off the most craziest ideas but I am sure I can come up with a challenging and insightful design in the time allocated.

  1. Perfect - you addressed everything and got the YouTube vid embedded!
Your labeling is getting better too - this makes it much clearer for the reader.

Just cut and paste the headings and topics from your Power Point e.g. "Group Exercise: blah blah - I enjoyed this one because....blah blah and a bit more blah!"
