Week 10 – 2D

Tuesday 27th September 2011

Today we presented our roughly polished 2D design Ideas to the group for our Exhibition. During the week I had come up with a few other versions of the logo for my 2D design and one of which was a suggested idea from the lecturer and the group.
We evaluated our design concepts amongst each other and their communicative effectiveness.

Group Evaluation

Reflecting on the effectiveness of your design process and concept communication
PART 1 – 20 mins

The GROUP verbally evaluates each member’s 2D Exhibition work
Scribe writes a summary paragraph on the 2 points below for each member

1. Effectiveness of design process
2. Effectiveness of concept communication

PART 2 - 10 mins Blog
Each student post the group results in your blog with images and descriptive text

Group Results scored out of ten

My logo design was supported well from the group

Josie's Typography and Logo has some great potential with some more exploration

Billie's Tree design looks promising if she puts something in the frames on her design

Sunita's 2D design tended to look Dandhy Warhol inspired but she will overcome this

Communication Concept adidas

Commentary

This is a clip made by Adidas that aims to get the audience to embrace originality. Adidas shoes are very popular and I think by acknowledging that a lot of people are wearing this brand, they can still make it their own. This communication concept is very effective. An easy going music overlay compliments the message perfectly. Be yourself, be original. It is almost like they are trying to be your friend and gain your trust so they can sell you their product. A comforting clip that not only makes you want to buy their shoes but communicate by being original with every new concept you create.

Reflection

This week sees the importance of really bringing the concept home for designing. For an effective design, communication can be interpreted in so many ways as long as it means something. If we can get emotion from a design, we have succeeded.
